University of Warwick
Murray & Willis were appointed by The University of Warwick to undertake the complete refurbishment and transformation of the ‘EAT’ restaurant within the highly acclaimed ‘Arts Centre’ complex into a new vibrant eating space.
This was our first project as part of a new refurbishment framework agreement with the University of Warwick.
The project was delivered over an eight week program during the summer shutdown, ready to re-open for ‘fresher’s’ week at the beginning of October.
The scope of works comprised of the complete strip out of the previous dining facility including removal of furniture, floor finishes, fixed seating and all old lighting.
We then altered the electrics and installed ‘Fagerhult ‘large pendent lights and perimeter lighting which could change colour dependent on the ambience required via scene setting control panel. Mechanically we also made minor alterations to the air conditioning and installed a specialist Pizza oven.
One of the main features within the new restaurant was a curved bar comprising feature laminated panels and a curved ‘Corian’ counter top. This is complimented by a specialist stainless steel servery counter with a glass surround and decorative laminate panels.
Within the restaurant facility there are three areas of fixed seating complimented by various types of loose furniture including tables and chairs imported from Italy.
There is feature panelling and a metal balustrade within the restaurant that were commissioned previously by the University of Warwick, these had to be protected and retained as they are features of historic interest.
When the majority of works were completed we carefully laid the new floor coverings which included Amtico and Polyfloor finishes. All areas were decorated in bright and vibrant colours.
Works were completed to the total satisfaction of the client.
