This fast track project for Wolverhampton Council had to be carried out within the summer holiday close down period, which due to the work involved was no mean feat. If the project could not be fast tracked during this period, it was highly likely that the project would have been shelved due to the disruption it would have caused not to mention the inherent danger of working in a life environment that involved minors.

The works entailed the excavation of a trench from the road side through the school grounds to facilitate the installation of a new water main including mechanical pipework services within the building. The excavations, were reinstated including new tarmac and a soft play areas. A new external canopy was fitted along including minor roof repairs. Internally a new kitchenette was installed for use by the local community and the complete refurbishment of the school’s Dining Hall and associated welfare facilities was undertaken.

The works in the Dining Hall comprised of minor internal demolitions, removal of the existing floor finishes including asbestos thermo-plastic floor tiles, The new works included windows and internal partitions along with the kitchen with provision of storage facilities. Male and female toilets were completely refurbished including new IPS system cubicles and finally decorations and flooring throughout.

Throughout the programme new mechanical and electrical works were carried out including an addressable fire alarm system.

Due to the nature of our works and the time constraints imposed by the client, a high level of liaison was required between all parties in order to achieve completion on time, allowing the school to reopen as planned at the end of the holidays.
