The project consisted of the refurbishment of research rooms and office spaces in two separate areas on the ground floor of the Physics west building.

The first phase of the project involved forming new acoustic glazed offices, installing secondary glazing to external windows, a new heating system, new power, ceilings flooring, decorations including sanding and polishing an existing wood block floor.

On completion of the works scientists from different parts of the world occupied the new offices in order to carry out research into outer space i.e. ‘The Black hole’. The department was call HIROS a sister establishment exists in the USA.

We needed to manage staff and student circulation in corridor areas by means of segregation and carrying out elements of the work out of hours.
