Case Study
the
project
This project was undertaken over 3 floors within a Grade II listed building and inside a conservation area. The Local Authority was carrying out major highways work directly outside the building and we therefore had to work very closely with both the Highways Agency and Local Council throughout the project.
As a result of its Grade II listed status we had to work closely with A & Q Architects to design a new hardwood shop front for approval by the Planning Office and fully render the front elevation with traditional lime render. Other works involved the removal of an existing goods lift, alterations to drainage and the complete reconfiguration of the internal layout of the building. The building had previously been a McDonald’s restaurant and part of our works included the removal of the ductwork and mechanical extract system from the roof of the building utilising a 50 tonne crane.
Despite the many challenges posed by this refurbishment Murray & Willis completed the project in the allotted fourteen week programme enabling the relocation of the staff and services from their former branch in time for the busy Christmas period.
