Murray & Willis have a 25 year history delivering high quality projects and the refurbishment of this ‘high end’ residential apartment in Portland Place within central London is no exception.

Due to the high quality of work carried out for the same client in Devonshire Mews within the London Borough of Westminster, we were appointed on their next project in Portland Place.

The scope of works included:

Installing, to the rear elevation, a four storey full scaffolding with a gantry hoist.

We then completely striped out the three bedroom, fourth floor Penthouse apartment, ensuring that all finishes to Public Areas were well protected.  As with any project of this type, there was continual liaison with the concierge and management committee ensuring the other residents were kept informed and happy throughout the project duration.

We replaced all of the electrics and installed an integrated air conditioning system, with under floor heating in all bathrooms.

We oversaw the kitchen installation supplied by Roundhouse Design Ltd, with handmade wooden lipped cabinets and a Calacatta Oro central island with a ‘book matched’ marble down stand which the client personally chose following a visit to Italy.

We reinstated an array of high quality fixtures and fittings, including decoration throughout using Farrow & Ball specialist paint finishes and both Elitis and Cole & Son wallpaper was hung in specified areas by our highly skilled in-house decorators.

All of the joinery for the project was bespoke and made from solid hardwood including all internal doors. The ironmongery was supplied by Joseph Giles of London.

The floorcoverings throughout were of a very high quality, including an 18mm engineered solid oak floor to the main areas and the bedrooms were carpeted in Duchess Elite velvet carpets.

The bathrooms were tiled using Botticino Tumbled tiles and the sanitary ware was manufactured by Villeroy & Boch with Axor Urquiola fittings.

We designed the feature fireplace in the lounge with a Portland Stone surround complemented with an Italian marble hearth and Chesney fire grate, finished with a Fibonacci fire basket.

Externally we installed all new aluminium powder coated windows and bi-fold doors, leading onto a teak decking with a Pure Vista balcony glazing system installed using a Posiglaze fixing.

As a finishing touch we had installed a full audio system throughout the apartment controlled by an iPad docking station.
