Murray & Willis Ltd are delighted to have been awarded a major refurbishment of Acorns children’s hospice in Walsall.

As a long-established specialist refurbishment and fit-out contractor we have worked in several hospices and therefore, our staff and site teams have a substantial understanding of the empathy and awareness required whilst working within these sensitive environments.

Acorns Chief Executive, Toby Porter, said: “We are thrilled to have awarded the contract of our refurbishment to Murray & Willis. They are a company we know are ideally suited to this project, having had extensive experience with several hospice organisations similar to ours. Our team were consistently impressed with the knowledge and sensitivity Murray & Willis demonstrated during the tender process about the Acorns care service and how important the Black Country hospice is to the children and families that use it, and to the local community that have so generously supported us. It’s always been our dream to modernise the spaces at the hospice where hundreds of local children spend precious time, and we are excited to be embarking on that journey with Murray & Willis over the coming months.”

Acorns is currently raising funds towards the refurbishment through its Room to Grow Appeal. Donations will be put towards a number of significant upgrades including the ten children’s bedrooms where children stay for short breaks, emergency or end-of-life care. There will also be a brand-new, purpose-built arts and crafts room, called Isabella’s Place, where children will enjoy the freedom of expression through art.

The approximate 13,500 square foot building will take 6 months to complete transforming the building into a state-of-the-art new environment for the children.
