St George’s Hotel, Llandudno
Murray & Willis have recently completed The ‘Menai Suite’ at St Georges Hotel in Llandudno. It is a completely new and unique function room.
St George’s Hotel is a Grade II listed building on the Parade in Llandudno and was first opened in 1854. It has a prestigious list of guests from the past including Disraeli, Gladstone, Lloyd George & Winston Churchill.
Murray & Willis were appointed on a design and build basis to undertake the excavation and subsequent refurbishment of the basement of the hotel.
This basement refurbishment revitalises the pavement level exterior to this 19th Century four Star Sea Front Hotel with complete new external landscaping and curved entrance stairs.
There is a lower tiered area of landscaping with subdued lighting and a patio seating area, you will also find a disabled lift to take you from the pavement level down to the external basement entrance which leads onto St. Georges Place.
The basement had been unused for a number of years and prior to this transformation was a Health and Beauty Suite. Proposals were submitted to transform this area into a luxury Prestige Conference and Banqueting area, trying to keep some of the authentic designs and features from the existing hotel.
The works involved a complete new mechanical and electrical installation including air conditioning, structural steelwork to open up areas removing large obtrusive columns, a new bar and break out area and acoustic dividing partitions which will give it the flexibility of numerous separate meeting rooms, these can be discreetly folded away to open up the area into a spacious function room.
To the rear there is a fully fitted out commercial kitchen. The main ‘front of house’ function areas have coffered ceilings specialist lighting, complete re- decorations including new carpets and curtains. There is a large inset polished timber dance floor for private functions.
The Menai Suite’ has joined the Wedgwood and Conwy Suites at the hotel, offering the perfect location for Weddings, Conferences and a range of other functions. It is completely unique to Llandudno & benefits from a fantastic external sunken Terrace Area providing the perfect exclusive entrance to the Suite.
The Suite caters for a wide range of events and functions from Weddings and Civil Partnerships to private lunches and informal parties. The sunken Terrace also offers the perfect space for BBQ’s and the extremely popular ‘St Georges Hog Roasts’
